The General Authority of Customs Lunches e-Shipping Initiative in Cooperation with Qatar Airways

The General Authority of Customs yesterday celebrated International Customs Day under the slogan, “SMART borders for seamless Trade, Travel and Transport”, and reviewed its achievements of the past year in the presence of HE the Minister of Transport and Communications Saif Al Sulaiti.

Ahmed bin Abdullah Al Gammal, chairman, General Authority of Customs, said that the Authority has taken many steps to keep abreast of the economic expansion in the country, stressing that the role of the Authority is to strengthen, stimulate and complement the processes at ports and borders in the country, especially Hamad International Port as it is now launching the project Al Nadeeb 2.

He added that the second phase of the customs clearance single window Al Nadeeb 2 was supposed to be launched last year, but after evaluating the situation, the Authority only re-engineered the first phase of the project, expressing his hope that there will be a significant shift in the program to enhance the movement of foreign trade between Qatar and other countries.

During the ceremony, Al Jamal announced the launch of the “e- shipping” initiative of imported air cargo, through which electronic documents and will be processed, to dispense with previously existing paper documents.
