The Qatar Racing and Equestrian Club (QREC) organised the 35th race meeting in the 2022-23 season, at the Al Rayyan Racecourse sand track on Wednesday, 22nd February. The meeting has an eight-race card. Khalifa Bin Sheail Al Kuwari’s Tajamhor (QA) (General x Al Ajouz) gained his second win in a row for trainer Zuhair Mohsen with victory in the day’s feature, the Baidaa Algaa Cup. The 4YO colt finished strongly down the straight to score by two lengths and a quarter under jockey Szczepan Mazur in the 1700m Novice for 4YO+ Local Purebred Arabians. The Hamad Ahmed Hassan Al Malki Al Jehani-owned and Hamad Al Jehani-trained Hardan (QA) (Assy) finished second jockey Saleh Salem Al-Marri. The Khaled Ali Al Shahwani-owned and Owaida Salem Al Hajri-trained Alam Al Gaiah (QA) (Alam Al Khalediah) finished third as he was further five and a half lengths behind under jockey Faleh Bughanaim.

QREC Racing Manager, Abdulla Rashid Al Kubaisi, presented the trophies to the winners.

The winning owner, Khalifa Bin Sheail Al Kuwari, said after the race: “We’ve won a new title after our excellence in the HH The Amir Sword Festival when we won the HH The Amir Shalfa. We’re delighted with these results. Tajamhor was also the first winner in the HH The Amir Sword Festival.”

The winning trainer, Zuhair Mohsen, added: “Tajamhor produced a brilliant performance and continued victories following his victory at the beginning of the HH The Amir Sword Festival. It’s impressive to see him land two feature races within a week. We’ll continue our work according to the plan.”
