Sudan VP: Doha Agreement for Peace in Darfur Helped in the Region’s Recovery

Khartoum, First Vice President of Sudan General Bakri Hassan Saleh said the Doha Agreement for Peace in Darfur made the region fully recover from the effects of the war.

This came today in a statement General Saleh made in Nyala, the capital of South Darfur state.

Saleh said that the unprecedented acceleration of development operations in Darfur has contributed to the establishment of security and stability in the region, strengthened peace and contributed to advancing the Sudanese economy.

First Vice President renewed the call for all armed movements to join the process of reconciliation, stressing that the Sudanese government welcomes all returnees who with to participate in establishing the peace.

He also affirmed that Sudan has fulfilled all its commitments regarding the peace process in Darfur through the provision of the necessary support, and the commitment to the road map drawn by the Doha Document for Peace in Darfur (DDPD). He pointed out that the coming period will witness many achievements in terms of transformation to production and making Darfur a vital economic hub.
