Strikes continue against IS in Syria, Iraq

WASHINGTON, Jan 27 (KUNA) — US-led coalition military forces continued to attack the so-called Islamic State (IS) terrorists in Syria and Iraq, the Combined Joint Task Force announced Wednesday.
In Syria, coalition military forces conducted four strikes using attack and fighter aircraft.
Near Al Hasakah, two strikes hit two separate IS tactical units and destroyed an IS fighting position.
Near Raqqah, one strike destroyed six IS work-over rigs.
Near Mar’a, one strike struck an IS tactical unit and destroyed two IS fighting positions.
Separately in Iraq, coalition military forces conducted 10 strikes coordinated with and in support of the Government of Iraq using rocket artillery and attack, fighter, and remotely piloted aircraft against IS targets.
Near Al Baghdadi, one strike hit an IS tactical unit and destroyed two weapons caches, a bunker, and damaged a vehicle.
Near Al Huwayjah, one strike struck an IS tactical unit.
Near Kirkuk, two strikes hit an IS tactical unit and destroyed a fighting position and an excavator.
Near Ramadi, five strikes took down two separate IS tactical units and destroyed a sniper position, two IS fighting positions, a fuel truck, damaged a separate IS vehicle, and denied IS access to terrain.
Near Sinjar, one strike struck an IS tactical unit and destroyed a fighting position and a heavy machine gun. (end) hb
