Soldier killed in clashes with PKK SE Turkey – agency

ISTANBUL, Jan 29 (KUNA) — A soldier was killed during clashes with the outlawed Kurdish Labor Party (PKK), army said Friday.
Turkish Ihlas news agency quoted the general staff as saying that the clash took place in the town of Sur near Diyarbakir, southeastern the country. Clashes are still ongoing.
Turkish army sent aerial-backed special units to clampdown on the rebels, the agency pointed out.
Violent incidents take place between PKK militants and Turkish armed forces almost on a daily basis. (end) ta.hb
