Solar powered Qatar Charity is implementing several water projects in Pakistan

With the support of the people in Qatar, Qatar Charity office in Pakistan was able to install several stations and water pumps in two areas of the Sindh province, to provide clean water to its residents, and it is expected that more than 3,000 people will benefit from it.

Qatar Charity installed 3 solar-powered stations in the Sinjar region and 10 manual water pumps. In the Khairpur region, 3 similar water stations and 10 other hand pumps were installed, to spare them the risks of polluted water, especially since the targeted areas suffer from drought and scarcity of water resources.

Local thanks

These projects have received broad local support. In this context, Mr. Ali Maimon, Assistant Director of the Social Welfare Department in the Sinjar region, said: “We thank the people of Qatar and Qatar Charity for this support, which provided them with a source of clean water, especially since the Sindh region suffers from drought due to lack of rain and lack of Water Resources”.

The happiness of the beneficiaries

In a related way, the beneficiaries expressed their happiness about implementing these water projects. Sultan Shah, one of these beneficiaries, said: “My children got sick because of the use of polluted water and because I am poor and cannot afford the expenses of a doctor. Now, I am very happy because Qatar Charity has installed a water pump in my area and provided me and my children have clean drinking water.”

For her part, Mrs. Aji Bibi, one of the beneficiaries, said: “40 families are living in my village. We used to fetch water from polluted ponds in which animals shared with us as well, and that took time, which prevented us from giving some time to our children, which affected their education and their playing time.” Water is a blessing; we are very happy because we have a private water source that is clean and drinkable.”

It is worth noting that Qatar Charity was able to complete 92 projects in the field of water and sanitation in three regions in the Sindh province of Pakistan during the current year 2022, focusing on remote villages deprived of essential services.
