Sanders beats Clinton in Washington state, Alaska presidential caucuses

WASHINGTON, March 27 (KUNA) — Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders won the Democratic caucuses in Alaska and Washington state on Saturday, according to media projections.
Washington state, with 101 delegates, was the biggest prize in the Democratic contests, which included Hawaii, where results were expected overnight. Hawaii and Alaska had only 25 and 16 delegates at stake respectively.
Sanders faces long odds as he tries to catch former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton in their bid for the Democratic presidential nomination.
Clinton already has 1,711 of the 2,383 delegates need to clinch the nomination, according to media estimates, while Sanders has 952 delegates so far.(end)
