Russia eager to boost bilateral relations with Egypt – Lavrov

MOSCOW, March 16 (KUNA) — Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said on Wednesday that his country is eager to boost bilateral relations with Egypt, adding that stability in Cairo is crucial to the region.
In a joint press conference with his Egyptian counterpart Sameh Shoukry, Lavrov said that Moscow seeks to reinstate flights to Egypt in a bid to revive the tourism industry there.
Mutual agreement on this issue “will not take long” the Russian Foreign Minister said, noting that a notice on this matter has been signed by the two countries.
Moreover, Shoukry said that Egypt has beefed up security at its airports to ensure the safety of foreign tourists. He also noted that his discussions with Lavrov tackled various aspects of bilateral relations, in addition to regional developments.
The Egyptian Foreign Minister said that his country is keen on bolstering cooperation with Russia, as well as enhancing parliamentary ties. (end) as.nam
