ROTA Reaching out to COP18 with New Proposals

Doha, November 30 (QNA) – Reach Out To Asia (ROTA) is actively participating in the Doha-based COP18, offering a group of new concepts and proposals that live up to changes on the planet.
Abdallah Diwan, Community Development Specialist at ROTA, says the foundation is taking part in the Climate Change Conference for the first time but has participated in the Rio+20 Earth summit, after recommending that Gulf states shift to green economy.
Diwan said ROTA changed its strategy two years ago in order to be in line with international developments, and updated its main programs to include environment issues, sustainable development, and education as a means of achieving environmental awareness.
He noted that ROTA is keen on involving young Qataris in the conference so as to learn about global issues, get in touch with international institutions, and realize that decisions and recommendations at the end of the conference will affect their future.
ROTA discussed the environmental issues in the “Empower 2012” meeting, Diwan said, adding that the foundation is currently arranging for the next Empower meeting to discuss water issues  in line with the U.N. celebrations of water conservation on the planet.
He noted that Qatar has successfully designed advertising and media campaigns prior to the conference to define climate change and the issues to be discussed, adding that ??the presence of leading climate change and environment experts has helped ROTA improve its global communication.
Diwan said the fact that Doha hosts the conference will help produce Qatari, Arab and regional climate leaders, pointing to the distinguished participation of Qatari youth under ROTA’s umbrella. (QNA)
