Reynders, Al-Malki discuss situation in Palestine

BRUSSELS, March 23 (KUNA) — Belgian Foreign Minister Didier Reynders met here today with Riad al-Malki, Palestinian Minister of Foreign Affairs.
A Belgian foreign ministry statement noted that during their meeting, the Ministers evoked the tragic events that hit Brussels Tuesday. Al-Malki offered his condolences and underlined the strong condemnation of these attacks by the Palestinian Authority.
Reynders also discussed the situation in the Palestinian territories with his interlocutor.
They stressed the need to start peace negotiations again to reach a solution with two states living in peace, security and mutual recognition. They also discussed the French initiative aimed at restarting the process.
On Tuesday Al-Malki spoke at the European Parliament’s Foreign Affairs Committee on the political situation in Palestine, including the inter-Palestinian reconciliation talks, the economic and humanitarian situation in occupied Palestinian territories, initiatives for re-launching Middle East peace process, and the regional situation.
