Registration in Public Schools Begins on 21 April

The Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MOEHE) issued a circular to the public schools to determine the procedures for the transfer and registration of students for the academic year 2019-2020. The enrollment of new students in public schools for all educational stages will start on April 21, according to the target groups and registration times as established by the Admissions and Registration Department at the Unit of Schools Affairs.

In the circular, the Unit of School Affairs has included the minimum age for admissions for Qatari nationals, children of GCC nationals, and children of Qatari women as follows: for KG1 born until 31/12/2015, for KG2 born until 31/12/2014, and for the first graders born until 31/12/2013. As for other nationalities, students are admitted to the first grade of primary education if born until 31/12/2013. Qataris who were born in January for grades KGs to 4 years and those born in February for grades 1 to 4 were excluded from the minimum school admission requirements.

Registration of Qatari nationals, children of GCC nationals, and children of Qatari women from kindergarten through 12th grade will begin on 21to 25 April, while enrollment through schools will be from 28 to 30 April. Registration from grade 1 to grade 12 for all nationalities will be based on place of residence and geographical area from 5 to 9 May through the website, while enrollment through schools will be from 12 to 16 May.
