WAM DUBAI, 31st October, 2013 (WAM) — Reem bint Ibrahim Al Hashemi, Minister of State and Managing Director of the Higher Committee for Hosting the World Expo 2020, has stated that the U.A.E. has the capacities, capabilities and the ingredients that make it able to compete with major countries to win to the hosting of Expo 2020.

In an interview with ‘Al Hayat’ newspaper published in the current edition, she added that the U.A.E. is calling on the long experience enjoyed by Dubai in the field of hosting prominent conferences and exhibitions, supported by world class infrastructure and logistical capacities, to highly qualify it to attain this great international merit.

The U.A.E. launched its diplomatic, economic and promotional forces two years ago to win the hosting bid for Expo 2020, and the momentum increased with the approach of the competition’s resolution.

Al Hashemi added that this momentum can be noticed in the streets of the country, its major landmarks, towers and airports, as you can see the Expo 2020 logo everywhere, including on national aircraft heading to all destinations, and the country’s officials are championing the bid on their visits all over the world.

The international competition will be resolved when the vote takes place on 27th November at the headquarters of the International Exhibitions Bureau (BIE) in Paris, where representatives of BIE’s 167 members will cast their votes for one of four cities: Yekaterinburg (Russia), Sao Paulo (Brazil), Izmir (Turkey) and Dubai.
