Raising the Minimum Pension to QR15,000

The Prime Minister and Minister of Interior HE Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al Thani announced lofty directives from HH Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Emir of the country, to ensure a decent life for retired citizens, and to raise the minimum pension to QR15,000.

HE said that the new draft retirement law is currently in the final stages of preparation, and procedures will be taken to issue it soon after referring it to the Shura Council for discussion. He stressed that the law to be issued will include many articles that are in the interest of the retiree, and that there are amendments to the law, to add housing allowance from Within the allowances, as well as amending the provisions related to “advances”, to keep pace with the burdens of life and meet the aspirations of retirees and ensure a decent life for them. On the preparations for the Shura elections, His Excellency stressed the keenness of His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Emir of the country, to conduct the Shura Council elections, according to the constitution that was referendum, according to fair and transparent procedures to enhance the Qatari Shura traditions, develop the legislative process and enhance the participation of citizens.
