Railway station in Brussels evacuated due to suspect suitcases

BRUSSELS, Jun 19 (KUNA) — The Central Station in Brussels was evacuated Sunday noon after the discovery of two abandoned suitcases.
According to Belgian media reports, trains are allowed to enter the station, but don’t make a stop. Nobody is allowed to enter the station.
A bomb disposal unit was underway to examine the suspicious cases.
Meanwhile, 9 of the 12 suspects arrested in Brussels on Friday night during a large-scale anti-terrorist operation have been released after questioning by examining magistrates. 3 suspects remain in prison.
Telephone taps revealed terrorists were discussing how to carry out attacks in the busy Rogier Square in central Brussels, said the reports.
40 house were searched in 16 different municipalities, mainly in Brussels but also in three other Belgian cities on Friday night but no weapons or explosives were discovered. (end) nk.mt
