Qatar University Young Scientists Center (QU-YSC) won four prizes for the participating innovative projects at the Sixth International Exhibition for Innovation (ISIF 21), which took place in the Turkish Republic. This success was achieved in the exhibition after student projects were judged by several juries, over two consecutive days. A research titled “Marine Degradable Plastic Based on Soybean By-Products”, prepared by Djabeh Al-Hail and Sharifa Al-Mohannadi from the College of Engineering, won the gold medal presented by the Sixth International Exhibition for Innovation, for its significant contribution to the reduction of plastic wastes.

Another research titled “Development of organic-inorganic halide perovskites (OHPs) microfiber-based memristors” won the silver medal, and it was presented by Muhammad Al-Hurr, a medicine students at Qatar University. This research is characterized by the manufacture and development of micro-fibers with stability, high efficiency and superior electrical capacity for use in many memory-saving applications for optoelectronic devices.

The gold medal presented by the State Office of Industrial Property in Macedonia and the bronze medal presented by ISIF 21 were won by a research project entitled “Sports innovation using modern scientific concepts: a case study in Qatar”, submitted by Abdul Rahman Al-Kuwari, Hamad Al-Shahrani, Salem Al-Sulaiti and Turki Al-Mutawa. In it, the students developed a traditional Qatari game and the tools used to play it by applying scientific techniques to convert it into a modern team game.
