QU STUDENTS HONORED FOR WINNING IN FIFTH SESSION OF THE “FUTURE WRITERS” COMPETITION

His Excellency Sheikh Dr. Abdullah bin Ali Al Thani, Chairman of the Media City Board of Directors and Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Qatar University (QU), honored the distinguished students of Qatar University who won the fifth session of the “Future Writers” competition organized by Qatar University in cooperation with Qatar Charity Association and in which more than 60 participated.

Qatar University won the first three places in the boys’ category and two other prizes, bringing the total prizes won by the university to five. The honoring ceremony was organized in the presence of Dr. Hassan bin Rashid Al-Derham, President of the University, a number of Vice-Presidents of Qatar University and the Director of Student Activities Department.

In his speech on this occasion, His Excellency Sheikh Dr. Abdullah bin Ali Al Thani, Chairman of the Media City Board of Directors and Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Qatar University, praised the university’s winning of such a large number of awards in this competition and its permanent victory in many internal and external participations, He said: “The efforts of Qatar University administration is clear in this distinction, stressing the importance of continuing and supporting this distinction.His Excellency spoke with the honored students and asked them about the atmosphere of the competition and the workshops and training courses offered by Qatar University, which contributed to refining their talents and preparing them to win this competition and achieve the expected results.
Dr. Hassan bin Rashid Al-Derham, President of Qatar University, praised the support of His Excellency Sheikh Dr. Abdullah bin Ali Al-Thani for the university, his attendance of this honor, his supervision and follow-up to the efforts of the university and the services it provides to its students and affiliates, stressing the university’s keenness on excellence in all fields and its support for its students to reap The highest positions in all the competitions in which you participate locally and internationally.

His Excellency Sheikh Dr. Abdullah bin Ali Al Thani handed over the shields of honor to the winners of Qatar University students in the “Future Writers” competition, and a group photo was taken of him with the honorees. The winners are: Muhammad Tayseer Al-Baba, Abu Bakr Oreibi, Abdullah Mahra, Afaf Jamal Al-Rimi, Shahd Abu Bakr Muhammad Al-Amin.

Commenting on this win, Mr. Abdullah Al-Mulla, Director of Student Activities at Qatar University, said: “This competition was organized in cooperation with Qatar Charity Association, through which the university sought to achieve its main goal, which is to gather the largest number of talented people. Dozens participated in it, and cooperation took place between the Department of Culture and Arts in the Student Activities Department and the Arabic Language Department at the College of Arts and Sciences in organizing a number of training workshops aimed at refining the talents of the participants. From Qatar University, the evaluation criteria included many things, including: Creative idea.

The number of those interviewed in the fifth edition reached 106 students of all primary, preparatory and secondary educational levels and students of different universities, in addition to students with special needs, and the arbitration process was conducted remotely, taking into account the precautionary conditions imposed by the Corona pandemic.

For the first time, students from College of the North Atlantic, Community College for Boys and Girls, Hamad Bin Khalifa University and Education City universities participated in this edition.
The Director of Student Activities Department said: “The workshops organized by the university were attended by more than 60 trainees, of whom were sorted, bringing the number to 20, and the university won five of the winners, including the first three at the boys’ level.”

Al-Mulla concluded his speech by emphasizing that the university, through the Student Affairs Sector, is continuing with more student participation in local and external competitions to achieve more prizes.
