QRCS Provides Medical Equipment for Gaza Health Sector

Doha, Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) has procured new high-tech medical equipment for the Palestinian Ministry of Health’s Al-Shifa Medical Complex in Gaza as part of the $18-million project of equipping the complex’s specialized surgery building, funded by the Program of the GCC for the Reconstruction of Gaza, under the supervision of the Islamic Development Bank (IDB).

The equipment includes pulsed dye laser (PDL) device, which removes red-colored skin marks such as port-wine stains, birth marks on the skin, or facial thread veins. QRCS will also provide fractional CO2 laser device, which is crucial for plastic surgeries as it is the only therapy for post-burn scars and wrinkles, warts, papilloma, and other benign skin growths.

The first of their kind in Palestinian health facilities, these technologies would help around 500 patients in Gaza, who previously would have to seek treatment abroad at high costs and amid travel restrictions. They would also help the patients and boost medical services at Gaza hospitals.
