In a major achievement within its efforts for preserving and publishing history and heritage of the region, Qatar National Library (QNL) announced the addition of digital page number 2 million this month and published through its e-portal Qatar Digital Library (QDG), the largest digital archive specialized in the history of the Middle East worldwide.
QDG was launched in 2014, within a partnership with Qatar Foundation and the British Library. It contains a unique group of reports, correspondence, manuscripts, historical images, voice recordings related to the Gulf, the Arabian Peninsula and neighboring areas. QDG also contains in-depth articles for specialized experts which offer readers in-depth look at various subjects related to the district history and their peoples.
On this occasion, HE Dr. Hamad bin Abdulaziz Al Kawari, Minister of State and President of Qatar National Library, said: “This historical achievement is the fruit of our conviction no obstacle should be before knowledge, and we will make our library at the top of the world’s libraries in the quality and quantity of documents available to all”.
