Qatar’s GAC Chairman Participates in 26th Meeting of GCC Customs Union Authority

HE Mr. Ahmed bin Abdullah Al Jamal, Chairman of the General Authority of Customs (GAC) and a number of directors of the Authority’s departments, participated in the 26th meeting of Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Customs Union Authority, which was held yesterday, Sunday, 17 October 2021, via videoconferencing.

The meeting discussed many issues, chiefly following the latest developments on the Common Customs Law of GCC countries, and settlement and transfer of customs tariffs, and studying the feasibility of GCC countries accession to some customs agreements derived from World Customs Organization. Moreover, the meeting discussed the latest developments of the Approved Economic Operator (AEO) program at the level of GCC countries and reviewed lists of banned and restricted goods.

Chairmen of GCC customs authorities and departments also discussed the proposal of activating the track of AEO in customs points in GCC countries for TIR cardholders, and other topics listed on the agenda.

This comes within the periodic meetings in which GCC customs authorities participated. These meetings help in enhancing cooperation among GCC countries in all customs areas and issues related to mechanisms of importation and exportation, and other topics and projects associated with international trade and common regulatory measures among them.
