QATARI HUMANITARIAN AID FOR BESIEGED AREAS IN SYRIA

DOHA, – The Qatar Development Fund (QDF), sent humanitarian convoys, directed to the besieged areas within Syria, on the first day of the ceasefire in the country.

The convoys were dispatched in collaboration with Qatari humanitarian organisations, and in coordination with the United Nations organisations, active in the field, in an effort to alleviate the suffering of the civilian victims of

the five-year-long bloody conflict.

The QDF move comes, in the wake of the unprecedented growing humanitarian needs in Syria, as a result of heightened clashes and the continuing humanitarian crisis, which caused the deaths of hundreds of thousands and displaced millions of Syrians.

A cease-fire agreement in Syria went into effect, starting on the first day of Eid Al-Adha, in order to create safe passages, for the delivery of humanitarian aid to the besieged areas.
