LYON, France – Qatar is participating in the third meeting of Sports Safety and Security Experts Group meeting, in the French city of Lyon.

Director General of Public Security, Major-General Saad Jassim Al Khulaifi, is heading the Qatari delegation to the meeting.

The meeting will discuss key topics related to sports security, particularly during major sporting events.

The director general of public security said that, Qatar aims by hosting the World Cup to bridge the gap between East and West, promote cultural rapprochement between the peoples, and tell the entire world what the people of this region can present to the world.

He stressed that, hosting the World Cup contributes to building social, economic and human sustainable heritage, that helps push the wheel of development, not only in Qatar, but also in various countries in the region.

Hosting the 2022 FIFA World Cup also contributes to guiding young people to reject extremism and violence, and directing them towards production and creativity, he said.

He added that through organising this event, Qatar aspires to a legacy of knowledge and experience in various areas, including the legislative field.
