Doha, – Qatar University (QU) and University of Surrey signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish collaboration in the field of education and research.

The agreement was signed by QU Vice President for Research and Graduate Studies Prof Mariam Al Maadeed and University of Surrey President and Vice-Chancellor Prof G Q Max Lu. The terms of the agreement include collaboration on joint research projects in areas of mutual interest including water and food security, environment, nanotechnology, and cyber security. Other areas of collaboration include the exchange of students and visiting scholars, hosting visiting delegations, and joint cultural programs and internship opportunities.

Commenting on the MoU, Al Maadeed said that the agreement “serves to demonstrate Qatar University’s commitment to advance research in key areas and to provide innovative solutions that meet the needs of the community and industry, in line with the goals and values of Qatar National Vision 2030.” For his part, Max Lu said that he was delighted “to see the beginning of research collaboration between University of Surrey and Qatar University. I believe there is great scope and potential for a productive partnership between the two universities with our complimentary strength in engineering.” (QNA)
