The Student Affairs Department at Qatar University (QU), in cooperation with the Academic and Vocational Guidance Department at the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, concluded the activities of the Qatar University 2022 summer camp for middle school students.
The activities of the summer camp began on the campus over a period of two weeks, from 24 July to 4 August, where the first week was devoted to boys in the Sports and Events Building at Qatar University and the second week for female students in the Female Gym.
Dr. Eiman Mustafawi, Vice President for Student Affairs at Qatar University said: “The camp’s organization comes within the framework of the university’s strategy to attract and encourage distinguished students to study scientific and technological disciplines by investing their time during the summer vacation through fun activities and events on the campus.”
Dr. Eiman added that the activities and events that were organized focused on enriching students’ knowledge, discovering and developing their abilities, and teaching them new skills in the fields of science and technology, through scientific and professional activities provided by the College of Engineering and the Professional Development Center at the university, in addition to the creative and recreational activities provided by the Department of Sports affairs, Empire coffee.
For his part, Mr. Ahmed Nasser Al-Balam, Head of the Academic and Vocational Guidance Department at the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, explained that the activities of the camp are an extension of the fruitful efforts between the university and the ministry, which began with the initiative of the preparatory stage awareness program, which aimed to motivate students, enhance their passion for science and encourage them to join scientific and technological disciplines.
Al-Balam added, “I extend my heartfelt thanks to Qatar University for their constant cooperation with us and their keenness to organize this camp and the programs it included, which God willingly had a positive impact on students by encouraging them to choose educational paths and university majors in a manner consistent with their inclinations and abilities.”
Khaled Ali Al-Karbi, Male student from Khaled Bin Al-Waleed Preparatory School, said: “The camp provided the maximum benefit to all participating students by participating in all lectures and activities related to the various departments of the College of Engineering, including mechanical and electrical engineering, which are related to dismantling and re-installing the electric car, and this contributed to strengthening the spirit of cooperation among the students and working as a team.”
Fajr Khalaf Al-Kuwari, Female student from Qatar Technical Secondary School for Girls, said that she benefited a lot from the technical skills in the workshop for dismantling and reassembling electric cars, which was provided by the College of Engineering, because this activity is related to what she learned in her academic specialization at Qatar Technical School.
Fajr also praised sports activities such as basketball and volleyball, learning about and enjoying the rules of these sports, in addition to benefiting from the workshop of the Professional Development Center.
