DOHA, Qatar, Mar 31 – Doha will host the communications and network’s annual conference, here on Apr 3-6, under the patronage of the Qatari Minister of Transport and Communications, Jassim Saif Al Sulaiti.

The conference will be organised by Texas A&M University at Qatar, in cooperation with Qatar University and Hamad bin Khalifa University.

More than 700 participants from around the world will take part in the conference, along with presidents of local universities and high-ranking representatives of the sponsoring organs.

Speaking on the occasion, the minister said, as a continuation of Qatar’s journey towards building a knowledge-based economy, according to Qatar’s National Vision 2030, the ministry was working on a follow-up to the evolution witnessed in the ICT sector in Qatar.

Al Sulaiti added that, the choice of Doha to host this conference was a recognition to the efforts being exerted in this area by specialists from the sector, government agencies and academic circles.

Qatar University’s President, Dr Hassan Rashid Al-Derham, stressed that Qatar University was looking forward to the discussions and shared experiences that emerge from the conference, to contribute to promoting research activities, in line with Qatar’s aspirations towards a knowledge-based economy.

Meanwhile, Dr Ann Kenimer, Interim Dean of Texas A&M University at Qatar, said that, innovators today shoulder their responsibility to making exceptional achievements that will shape the future of society, encourage conservation practices, develop sustainable resource, as well as, promoting means of communication between different parts of the world.
