He pointed out that the State of Qatar, in this context, pays special and exceptional attention to improving the level of education, providing everyone with access to a distinguished education and gaining experience, based on our belief in the importance of investing in human resources.

Al-Marri reviewed Qatar’s successful experience in this field. He stressed that sustainable development can not be achieved without the establishment of peaceful, non-marginalized societies, as affirmed by the sixteenth goal of sustainable development. Accordingly, the State of Qatar has played a leading role in establishing the Global Alliance to report progress in promoting societies that enjoy peace and justice for all, Al Marri added.

Mohammed Ali Al Marri said that “Qatar National Vision 2030 has identified key economic, social, human and environmental goals, and has placed development at the center of its priorities with integrating Sustainable Development Plan 2030 into National Development Strategy 2017-2022 “.

The State of Qatar’s human rights-based development approach, and the right of all individuals to participate and contribute to economic, social and cultural development and to enjoy its benefits on the basis of equality and non-discrimination, was one way of advancing the goals of sustainable development, he added.

He noted that the outstanding performance of the State of Qatar in the field of human development has enabled it to be ranked first in the Arab world, and 33rd globally in the field of human development, which confirms the high level of Qatar’s plans in the field of human development.

Al-Marri said that the 2030 Sustainable Development Plan is the result of the efforts of Member States. It is recognized that strengthening these efforts and moving forward with the goals and objectives of this plan imposes a responsibility on countries to promote education and ensure universal and equal access to education.

Good and equitable education for all was an important enabling element for sustainable development, given its pivotal role in building a better and more sustainable future for present and future generations, capacity-building, skills development and the promotion of a culture of peace, tolerance and non-violence, Al Marri underlined.

He also affirmed the importance of promoting new and renewable sources of energy, providing sustainable energy for all and addressing the issue of climate change, one of the greatest challenges facing our world today.

Concluding, Al-Marri expressed his confidence that the efforts of the international community will have a positive impact on the way we deal with and overcome the pressing challenges facing us. While we all recognize that the achievement of the goals of sustainable development will achieve its goal only by continuing joint efforts, the State of Qatar reaffirms its commitment to work and partnership with the international community to address the challenges, he noted.
