QATAR RED CRESCENT TAKES PART IN U.N. HUMANITARIAN COORDINATOR FOR LIBYA CONFERENCE

DOHA, Qatar, Mar 31 – Qatar Red Crescent takes part in the United Nations (UN) Humanitarian Coordinator Conference, which opened in Tunis.

The three-day event discussed humanitarian situation in Libya, in the presence of a number of non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and institutions of the Libyan civil society, and nine international organisations and diplomatic

missions, as well as, the various UN agencies.

According to a press release on Wednesday, Qatar Red Crescent will be represented by Director of Relief and International Development, Khaled Diab.

Diab said that, the conference agenda include several goals and objectives, including: Means of establishing a direct dialogue between the UN and its partners, NGOs and the Libyan national actors, to discuss basic humanitarian challenges and mechanisms to provide assistance.

The conference aims to discuss the gaps and the challenges of implementing a humanitarian response plan and make suggestions to address these gaps and challenges.

Qatar Red Crescent Society has been conducting a large-scale relief intervention, to help the families displaced or affected by the armed conflict in Libya, with US$10 million (over QR 36 million) funding, from Qatar Development.
