Doha, – Qatar Red Crescent announced Monday the launch of its annual Ramadan campaign for the third consecutive year with QR 84 million worth of projects during and beyond Ramadan in Qatar and 15 other countries.

The announcement came during a press conference held on Monday, during which QRC Executive Director Youssef Ahmed Al Hammadi shed light on the suffering of many peoples and nations due to conflicts, disasters, famines, wars, poverty and diseases. He stressed the awareness of Qatar Red Crescent, as a charitable humanitarian organization, of the need to provide help to the sick, displaced, wounded and hungry, and to alleviate the suffering of the poor and destitute, especially in holy month of Ramadan.

He added that Qatar Red Crescent is keen to intensify its efforts during Ramada and to encourage people to donate to relief the needy and support the deprived.

He explained that the campaign this year is divided into two parts. The first includes programs and activities for the month of Ramadan, while the second extends over the year in various areas of humanitarian work, such as shelter, health, food and non-food assistance, water, sanitation, education, family development, health awareness and social education.

For his part, Director of Resource Mobilization and Head of Ramadan Campaign Saad bin Shahin Al Kaabi said that Qatar Red Crescent will promote a number of charity projects during the campaign to benefit thousands in Qatar and abroad, including Syria, Yemen, Iraq, Somalia, Sudan, Myanmar, Nepal and other countries; in the field of health, relief and development and other Ramadan programs.

He noted that Qatar Red Crescent has developed a number of marketing and media means to inform the public about its charitable projects, in addition to a guide for its local and foreign projects, its activities in commercial malls and its free medical services during the holy month of Ramadan.
