Qatar Racing’s PERFECT SIGN wins at Southwell and gives Oisin Murphy 1,000th winner in Britain

Qatar Racing Limited’s PERFECT SIGN (IRE) (Charm Spirit x Exceedingly Rare) won her maiden for two-year-old fillies over 6f at Southwell on Tuesday, 27 October, evening, giving Oisin Murphy his 1,000th winner in Britain.

Perfect Sign tracked the leaders and came along the rail in the straight. Then, she was very much the best in the last furlong, winning by nearly three lengths for her trainer Michael Dods. SEALED OFFER (GB) (Lethal Force) finished second for trainer Robert Cowell and jockey Luke Morris. SEACLUSION (GB) (Fountain Of Youth) was further three and a half lengths back in third for trainer Kevin Ryan and jockey Tom Eaves.

A delighted Oisin Murphy told Sky Sports Racing: “I ride for great people and it’s really nice to ride my 1,000th winner in Britain in these colours for Qatar Racing and Sheikh Fahad. When you start out as an apprentice, you hope you can get a licence and then ride a winner and so on. Hopefully I can ride 1,000 more in the future. I ride good horses all over the world and I’m very privileged to do that.”

Reigning champion jockey Oisin Murphy won his first Classic at the beginning of the year by leading KAMEKO to success in the 2,000 Guineas, in a record time, Qatar Racing Limited.
