Qatar Participates in NATO-ICI Office Inauguration in Kuwait

Kuwait, The state of Kuwait inaugurated the regional office headquarters of NATO-Istanbul Cooperation Initiative (ICI) on Tuesday.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by Qatar Minister of State for Defense Affairs HE Dr. Khalid bin Mohammed Al Attiyah, GCC Secretary General Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani and NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg under the sponsorship of Kuwaiti Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah.

The NATO-ICI office works as a communication hub between the organization and the Gulf in various fields including strategic analysis, civil emergency planning, cooperation between the armed forces and public diplomacy.

The office will also facilitate the exchange of experiences and improve the understanding between the NATO, Kuwait and other Gulf partners such as Qatar, Bahrain, and the United Arab Emirates.

The center was first proposed by Kuwait during a 2012 NATO summit in Chicago.
