Cairo, -The 33rd session of the Arab Standing Committee for Meteorology started here today, at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the Arab League, with the participation of representatives from Arab countries, .

Qatar’s delegation to the meeting is headed by the Director of Meteorology Department at the Civil Aviation Authority Abdullah Mohammed Al Mannai .

Al-Mannai told Qatar News Agency (QNA) that the meeting will discuss about 13 items, the most important of which are the item on meteorological services provided to the aviation sector and the item on information related to weather and climate hazards. He noted that a relatively new item on general strategy will be also be discussed and recommended.

He said that the meeting seeks to enhance cooperation between the meteorological bodies in the Arab countries, as well as discuss the continuity of the role of the Arab League in coordinating cooperation between the Arab countries and strengthening relations between meteorology facilities.

The meeting will also discuss means of enhancing cooperation between national meteorological facilities and international and international organizations, especially the World Meteorological Organization and some countries that willing to open a portal of cooperation with the Arab Committee such as China and India, he added, noting the importance of this opportunity for Arab countries to benefit from these relatively developed countries in the areas of meteorology.

On the proposals of the State of Qatar to enhance cooperation among Arab countries in the field of meteorology, Al-Mannai said, “We presented a number of proposals and put forward our views in this regard.”(QNA)
