Qatar Participates in 30th Special Session on Grave Human Rights Situation in Occupied Palestinian Territory

The State of Qatar participated in the 30th special session on the grave human rights situation in the occupied Palestinian territories, including East Jerusalem, at the Human Rights Council, through video conference technology.

The delegation of the State of Qatar to the meeting was chaired by HE Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Sultan bin Saad Al Muraikhi.

In a videotaped speech during the meeting, HE Al Muraikhi expressed his thanks and appreciation to the President and members of the Human Rights Council for responding to the holding of this important session on discussing the Israeli attacks in the occupied Palestinian territories during the past days.

His Excellency said that the Israeli violations and crimes against the brotherly Palestinian people have been going on for many decades, during which Israel, the occupying power, has sought to consolidate its settlement and racist policies by confiscating Palestinian property, demolishing their homes and displacing them, and trying to Judaize the city of Jerusalem and change its legal status.

His Excellency expressed the State of Qatar’s strong condemnation of the recent Israeli attacks, especially in Al-Quds, Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood and Gaza Strip, and its disproportionate and indiscriminate use of force, its deliberate targeting of civilians and journalists and its bombing of civilian facilities, especially hospitals and schools, and the Qatar Red Crescent building, in flagrant violation of the provisions of international law and human rights charters.

His Excellency added that the State of Qatar has participated in the relentless diplomatic efforts made by the United Nations and the actors in the international community to reduce the escalation and stop the Israeli attacks on the Palestinians, and while Qatar welcomes reaching an agreement to stop the fighting, Qatar calls on the international community to assume responsibility to protect the Palestinian people from the Israeli killing machine, adding that Qatar hopes that this session will contribute to achieving accountability against all Israeli officials for the crimes they committed against the Palestinian people.

His Excellency affirmed the firm position of the State of Qatar in standing by the Palestinian people until they regain all their legitimate rights and establish their independent state on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
