Qatar Charity signs agreement with IOM to support Yemen’s vulnerable households

Qatar Charity (QC) has signed an agreement with the International Organization for Migration (IOM) to provide rapid financial assistance to vulnerable households in Yemen. Under the agreement, Qatar Charity will provide IOM with a funding of USD 500,000 to help more than 10,000 crisis affected individuals have improved access to basic goods, services, and livelihood opportunities.

The agreement was signed by Nawaf Abdulla AlHammadi, Chief of Operations and International Partnerships Officer at Qatar Charity and Iman Ereiqat, Chief of Mission, IOM Qatar.

The “Provision of Rapid Financial Assistance to Vulnerable Households in Yemen” project will support the vulnerable households in Ma’rib, Lahj, Hadramout and the West Coast areas of Al Hodeidah and South Ta’iz with rapid means to improve their living conditions, and allow them to meet their most critical needs, through provision of multi-purpose cash assistance to support livelihoods.

“People of Yemen continue to face the humanitarian crisis in the country, and the needs on the ground are growing. Today, with our valuable partner Qatar Charity, we have signed an agreement on a new project to improve the living conditions of vulnerable people in Yemen. Thanks to the generous contribution of Qatar Charity, thousands of crisis-affected individuals with their family members will benefit from the intervention.”, said Iman Ereiqat, Chief of IOM Mission in Qatar

Matthew Huber, Chief of IOM Mission in Yemen, said, “IOM Yemen highly values its partnership with Qatar Charity in efforts to meet our common goal of reaching the neediest in Yemen due to the difficult conditions left by years of conflict. IOM is very thankful for this contribution, and we look forward to working with Qatar Charity on this program and broadening our partnership in other initiatives that benefit those in hard-to-reach areas.”

He noted that Qatar Charity is keen to enhance and strengthen the existing cooperation with IOM to reach the largest number of needy people around the world, indicating that Qatar Charity will intensify work in Yemen in support of stability and development.

AlHammadi underlined Qatar Charity’s keenness to utilize its expertise, potential, and capabilities to serve the vulnerable and communities in need through cooperation and partnership with many international humanitarian organizations, networks, and alliances.
