Qatar Charity, QFFD Support Rohingya Refugees with $9 Million

Qatar Charity and Qatar Fund For Development (QFFD) on Thursday announced a cooperation and partnership agreement with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) to provide $9 million in financial support to offer basic services to Rohingya Refugees in Bangladesh on the sidelines of Aid and Trade London conference.

UNHCR honored Qatar Charity for its efforts, projects and partnerships with the agency and its humanitarian service. The award was received by Qatar Charity Chief Executive Officer Yousef bin Ahmed Al Kuwari.

During the conference, Qatar Charity and UNHCR launched a joint campaign aiming at reintegrating Somali refugees and internally displaced people into Somalia and providing them with a better life. The campaign aims at raising $10 million.

In recognition of Qatar Charity’s efforts in the service of humanitarian work, the conference delivered “Change Maker” award to Qatar Charity Chairman HE Sheikh Hamad bin Nasser Al-Thani for development efforts and activities of Qatar Charity in 70 countries around the world to serve humanity.

The Aid and Trade London conference, which kicked off yesterday, is the largest annual conference in London aiming at providing humanitarian quick assistance to affected areas around the world.
