DOHA, Qatar, Mar 28 Qatar Chamber (QC), on Sunday, hosted an introductory seminar on investment and business opportunities, in the Association of South-east Asian Nations (ASEAN), attended by a number of Qatari businessmen and seven ambassadors of this economic bloc accredited to Qatar.

The ambassadors introduced the Qatari business community to a number of trade and investment opportunities in the ASEAN countries, especially in real estate, oil and gas, energy, labour, construction, safety and security areas.

QC Vice-Chairman, Muhammed Ahmed Towar Al Kuwari, said that, Qatar attached great importance to ASEAN and sought to strengthen cooperation and economic ties with the bloc at all levels and in all sectors.

He added that Qatar, as the largest liquefied natural gas (LNG) producer in the world, has great interest in strengthening ties with ASEAN, not only in the energy sector but in all economic sectors, especially as gas exported by Qatar to Asian countries, accounted only 50 percent of its exports.

This is expected to rise in the coming years, in light of the growing demand from ASEAN.

The QC Vice-Chairman, urged Qatari businessmen and their counterparts from ASEAN, to do their best to contribute to the development of friendship between the two sides, adding that, there were various opportunities for friendship, partnership and investment for both sides, especially in the private sector.

Al Kuwari also hoped that Asian companies would explore the Qatari market and establish partnerships with Qatari companies, to find out about opportunities and investment climate in Qatar.
