Qatar athletics team to compete in Asian Games Sunday

Jakarta, Qatar athletes prepare to bring home many medals and win the challenge race at the 2018 Asian Games in Indonesia, as athletic competitions are set to kick off Sunday and continue until 30 August. The competitions will see the participation of champions from 45 countries competing for 47 colored medals.

Qatar’s champions look forward to continuing their successes in the Asian Games and athletics in particular, as they had won many colorful medals in various races and competitions. A group of Qatari champions will participate in various competitions to win Asian medals.

The Qatar athletics team consists of 24 athletes, who will compete for 15 medals in various races and competitions. However, in this edition of the Asian Games, the team will miss High Jump World Champion Mutaz Barshim, who has been suffering injury since two months during his participation in Hungary competitions.

The Asian challenge is led by world champion Abdalelah Haroun in the 400m race, who topped the race in the last round of the league, alongside the champion Abdulrahman Samba, who has the world record of the year in the 400 m hurdles alongside a group of heroes: Hamdi Al Amin in the high jump, Musab Adam in the mid-distance race and his teammate Abubakar Haidar, Jamal Hiran in the 800m race, Hamza Driouch in the 1500m race along with Musab Adam in the same race, Mohamed El Nour and Mohamed Nasser.

In the field games, Ashraf Al Saifi and Ahmed Al Saifi are taking part among others.

In the hurdle race, among those who will participate are Qatar’s Saud Al-Humaidi in the 110m race, Hashim Salah in the 3000m race, and the champion Yasir Mubarak will participate in the 3000m.
