Qatar Affirms Keenness to Enhance Active Participation of Afghan Women in Peace-Making Process

The State of Qatar has affirmed its keenness to enhance the active participation of Afghan women in the peace-making and building process.

This came in the statement of the State of Qatar delivered by the Acting Charge d’Affairs of the Permanent Delegation of the State of Qatar in Geneva Jawhara Al Suwaidi, before the 50th Human Rights Council, during the Urgent Debate on the Situation of Human Rights for Women and Girls in Afghanistan.

In its statement, the State of Qatar reiterated its deep concern about the suspension of studies in secondary schools for girls, stressing that these negative practices will have a significant impact on human rights, development and the economy in the country.

Al Suwaidi said that the State of Qatar will continue to coordinate closely with partners to enable the Afghan people to address all humanitarian, economic and social challenges, preserve the gains made, and achieve security, peace, stability and development in Afghanistan and in the region.

In its statement, the State of Qatar stressed that making further progress in Afghanistan also requires taking effective and urgent measures to mitigate the humanitarian impact of the existing crisis on all segments of society, especially on women, girls and children, as well as continuing efforts to reach a comprehensive national reconciliation.
