President of Lebanon Meets Iraq FM

Beirut, President of Lebanon Michel Aoun met here today with Iraqi Foreign Minister Ibrahim Al Jaafari, who is currently visiting Beirut.

During the meeting, they discussed various issues regarding the Lebanese-Iraqi relations and the regional affairs, in addition to the latest developments and security incidents in Iraq and the military victories which the Iraqi armed forces are achieving.

President Aoun stressed “Lebanon’s keenness on developing the Iraqi-Lebanese relations and enhancing them over all fields,” confirming the importance of solidarity among all countries to fight terrorism.

He confirmed that Lebanon has succeeded in overcoming a difficult period and started a stage of growth over all sectors, stressing that fighting terrorism is not the responsibility of one state but it demands cooperation and coordination among all countries because the danger of terrorism is no more confined to one state without the other.

Al Jaafari handed Aoun an invitation from Iraq’s President Fouad Maasoum to visit Iraq.

Iraqi Foreign Minister Ibrahim Al Jaafari arrived in Beirut earlier today for an official visit.
