PM Inaugurates Mukaynis Meteorological Center

HE the Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani, on Thursday, inaugurated Mukaynis Meteorological Center, Qatar’s first-of-its-kind high-tech facility, in Mukaynis. HE also launched, during the opening ceremony, Q Weather mobile application to allow users to check climate information, weather forecast and warnings, in addition to live and round the clock readings to the different climate elements.

HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior toured the Center, where he was briefed about the control room, the radar tower and the mechanism of the new weather radar, which is considered the most modern in terms of technologies and capabilities, and will contribute to the improvement of the weather forecasts of the Centre, as well as the monitoring of many elements of the weather more accurately and effectively, in addition to the various monitoring stations and services provided to the community and other vital sectors. The ceremony was attended by a number of ministers and senior officials.

Speaking at the ceremony, HE the Minister of Transport and Communications Jassim Seif Ahmed al-Sulaiti, said, The transportation projects have received great attention by the wise leadership of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, besides the follow-up and supervision of HE Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani, and we have reached a clear vision to bring the best worldwide systems and technologies for the society’s benefit.

He clarified that Q Weather mobile application is one of the distinguishing digital solutions that comes as part of the efforts exerted by state entities to meet the standards adopted by the e-government system in Qatar and realize the objectives of Qatar Digital Government 2020 Strategy. The design and launch of the app also supports the endeavors of Qatari startups that have proven their capability and efficiency when it comes to creativity and excellence in the digital field.
