Parliament speaker condemns mosque blast in Saudi Arabia

KUWAIT, Jan 29 (KUNA) — Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union (AIPU) President and Kuwaiti National Assembly Speaker Marzouq Al-Ghanim strongly condemned the “terrorist” explosion that targeted a mosque in Saudi Arabia’s eastern Al-Ahsa governorate on Friday, killing and wounding a number of innocent people.
“We strongly condemn this criminal, cowardly and despicable act that targeted safe worshippers. We consequently voice full support and solidarity with the leadership and people of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in face of such acts that have nothing to do whatsoever with the religion of Islam,” he said in a press release.
Al-Ghanim called for joint regional and international cooperation for eliminating terrorism, extremism and intolerance.
He offered heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims, and wished those injured in the blast swift recovery. (end)
