Park, Obama Hold Talks at ASEAN Summit

Vientiane (Laos), – South Korean President Park Geun-hye on Tuesday met her U.S. counterpart Barack Obama on the sidelines of the ASEAN summit, currently underway in Laos capital, Vientiane.

The two leaders were scheduled to discuss a set of issues, including North Korea’s continued provocations, South Korean news agency Yonhap reported. The talks come on the back of Pyongyang’s launch of three mid-range ballistic missiles Monday. The missiles traveled some 1,000 kilometers and fell into waters within Japan’s air defense identification zone, Seoul’s military officials said according to Yonhap.

Park and Obama are meeting for the first time since their last summit during the Nuclear Security Summit in Washington, D.C. in March.
