One mln Pakistani refugees face contagious diseases risk

ISLAMABAD (CIHAN)- Around 1 million Pakistani refugees, who fled strikes in North Waziristan, face risk of contagious diseases, warned World Health Organization (WHO) official Mohammad Asif Khan.

Refuges living in rural parts of the country are more inclined to catch diseases since most of them are not vaccinated against any diseases. Khan said noncritical illnesses such as measles can even be fatal for those people who live under dire conditions.

Khan further said inadequate number of health officials deployed by the WHO to the region also make their efforts difficult.
