Coach zdilek set to take Rizespor to greater heightsNew aykur Rizespor coach Mehmet zdilek has reiterated that his duty is to turn the tiny Black Sea club from a sojourner into a bona fide of topflight Turkish football.zdilek surprisingly left GenlerbirliIi in June, despite leading the Ankara side that was staring into the abyss of relegation in week eight of last season on the brink of Europa League qualification.

Talking to the sports media at the clubandrsquos Mehmet Cengiz facilities after a practice session, zdilek said Rizespor has been strengthened by some new signings and will henceforth be a force to reckon with in Turkish football.andldquoThe upcoming [2014-15] season will be tough, but we are equal to the task, andrdquo he stated.

andldquoWe have maintained the nucleus of last seasonandrsquos squad. Additionally, however, we have made a few acquisitions and have brought [former Trabzonspor and Antalyaspor] defender Giray Kaar as well as [ex-Antalyaspor left winger] Murat Duruer to the fold.

Maybe we still need more [players], but this cannot be an excuse for failure, andrdquo he noted.andldquoWe are training really hard and getting stronger with each passing day.

Four or five young players are bound to leave us for pastures new. After their departure, we will re-evaluate the situation.

We intend to acquire two new players — a midfielder and a goalkeeper — and will close the transfer chapter, andrdquo zdilek further said.andldquoThe league season will start in earnest for us with the opening game against [Ankara archrival] GenlerbirliIi on Aug.

29. Maybe we are dreaming, but we like to dream dreams and tell people about these dreams.

We plan to form a team that will be a permanent landlord in the Spor Toto Super League, not a tenant, andrdquo he stated.andldquoFurthermore, the team has to add more quality to last seasonandrsquos performance in 2014-15.

For our part, the important thing is not how the league starts but how it ends. Last season, we [Rizespor] dropped too many points at home.

It is therefore incumbent upon us to perform well at home in the upcoming season and obtain desirable results, andrdquo zdilek added.andldquoThe Rize weather is very humid, but there is nothing we can do about it and will have to continue our training there.

We plan to play two warm-up matches and be fit as fiddles on or before the seasonandrsquos starting whistle is blown, andrdquo he added.
