OIC Humanitarian Funds to Hold International Humanitarian Forum Sunday

Doha, Qatar’s based Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Humanitarian Funds will hold its international humanitarian forum on humanitarian funds at the Sheraton Doha Hotel on Sunday.

During the forum, four new “humanitarian funds” will be launched and will be dedicated to the affairs of Al Quds and Palestine, mosques, orphans and water in OIC Member States.

The forum, to be held annually, will be attended by senior Arab and Islamic figures as well as representatives of international charitable and humanitarian organizations.

Regarding the forum’s key events, HE Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the OIC Humanitarian Funds Sheikh Dr Abdulaziz bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani said that the forum includes a seminar on humanitarian and development funds and their rightful role in achieving societal stability and successful experiences and practices, in addition to a ceremony to launch new and dedicated humanitarian funds to provide care and support services for the affairs of Al Quds and Palestine, mosques, orphans and water in OIC Member States.

He added that an international humanitarian appeal will be launched for the city of Al Quds and its holy sites, adding that a number of specific initiatives to institutionalize humanitarian work according to UN standards will also be announced. An exhibition and a documentary film will be organized on the margins of the forum, he said, pointing out that the forum will see the launch of specialized information journals to realize the objectives of humanitarian funds, and the announcement of awards in the areas of humanitarian funds.

He added that the forum will also announce ambassadors of humanitarian diplomacy’s initiative which is sponsored by the OIC Humanitarian Funds.
