OIC Condemns attack on church in Peshawar, Pakistan

WAM JEDDAH, 25th September, 2013 (WAM) — The Secretary-General of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, OIC, Prof. Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu, has strongly condemned an attack which targeted a church in Peshawar, Pakistan, killing over eighty innocent people and injuring more than a hundred others.
Prof. Ihsanoglu, in deploring the inhuman and contemptible incident which targeted a place of worship, denounced the act as a negation of the peaceful values of all religions. He conveyed his sincere condolences to the families of the victims as well to the government and people of Pakistan over this tragedy.
The Secretary-General then reiterated the principled stand of the OIC which rejects all forms and manifestations of terrorism and expressed its solidarity with Pakistan in their endeavours to combat extremism and terrorism. He also called on the authorities to identify and punish the perpetrators of this terrible crime.
