NHRC Commends Joint Cooperation with General Secretariat of Arab Interior Ministers Council

Doha – The National Human Rights Committee (NHRC) has commended joint cooperation and ongoing partnership with the General Secretariat of the Council of Arab Interior Ministers, in a lot of activities and events.

Within the framework of this cooperation, the NHRC will organize several activities and events in conjunction with the Arab Interior Ministers’ Council at the headquarters of the general secretariat in Tunis during the month of March next year, including “Islam and Human Rights Exhibition .” The NHRC pointed out that “the security challenges and human rights in the Arab Region” conference which was held in Doha in late 2014, had received considerable attention from the General Secretariat of the Council of Arab Interior Ministers.

In a press statement, Jaber Al Huwail, Director of the Legal Affairs at the NHRC praised the participation of the NHRC as an observer at the second conference of the Human rights officials at Arab interior ministries held recently in Tunis.

He explained that this conference is organized annually by the Arab Interior Ministers Council to follow up the recommendations of the International Conference held in Doha on security and human rights challenges.

He pointed out that the second conference had stressed in its recommendations on the right of states to take the necessary measures to combat terrorism and the need to respect the principles and standards of human rights in all the measures taken.
