MP Hout: 1960 election law worst option

Jamaa Islamiya lawmaker Imad Hout maintained on Wednesday that the 1960 election law is the worst option, stressing that the hybrid vote mode can pave the way for an agreement over a poll system.

Interviewed on al-Fajr radio station, Hout said that the key challenge awaiting President Michel Aoun following his Gulf tour would be to press for reaching a new election law during a 15-day period of time.

“President Aoun’s visit to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia contributed to dissipating clouds that had reigned over the relation between the two countries, and to opening the door again to the return of KSA’s interest in the Lebanese scene,” he indicated.

“It is normal that the visit of the President and the accompanying delegation to Qatar includes the issue of the Lebanese servicemen kidnapped by Daesh (…) especially that Qatar can assign mediators,” he underlined.
