MP Ashour castigates Minister Al-Sabeeh for privatizing Al-Dasma coop

KUWAIT, March 16 (KUNA) — MP Saleh Ashour said on Wednesday that the step taken by Minister of Social Affairs and Labor and Minister of State for Planning and Development Affairs Hend Al-Sabeeh to privatize Al-Dasma Coop. was “unconstitutional.” In his speech, grilling Al-Sabeeh, Ashour said if there were any drawbacks in the performance of coop societies, it would behoove the government to correct these drawbacks, “not turn over the coops to businessmen eager to control them.” He further said that privatizing Al-Dasma and Benaid Al-Gar coop was tantamount to ” a plot against the idea of the work of cooperative societies.” He said the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor was complicit in the sale of Al-Dasma coop on Feb 21, 2016, opening the door wide for further sales of other coops.
On a different topic, MP Ashour decried, in his opinion, the way the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor has been dealing with Kuwaiti orphans housed in government orphanages.
He said the Ministry was not satisfactorily taking care of just 136 state-sponsored orphans while the government was giving a humanitarian helping hand to the needy far and wide throughout the world.
He urged the Ministry not to forcibly turn out orphans from state orphanages before they were ready to leave for independent living. (Pick up previous) rkh.ajs
