Morocco Dismantles Group with Suspected Links to ISIS

Rabat, Moroccan authorities said Friday they had dismantled a group linked to the Islamic State extremist militia on suspicion of planning terrorist attacks in the North African country.

The seven-member group had planned terrorist operations in Morocco on orders from Islamic State leaders in Syria, Iraq and Libya, the Interior Ministry said in a statement.

A security raid on a place kept by the group’s mastermind resulted in the seizure of a machine gun, ammunition, communication devices, military uniforms, explosive belts and chemicals intended for bomb-making, the ministry added.

The suspects will be put on trial once the interrogation undertaken by the prosecution is over, it said.
