MOPH Celebrates the International Diabetes Day

The Ministry of Public Health (MOPH), in co-operation with Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC), Primary Health Care Corporation, Sidra Medicine and Qatar Diabetes Association, celebrate the World Diabetes Day today, which falls on November 14 every year.

Diabetes is one of the most prominent health challenges globally and locally as one of the most widespread non-communicable diseases in the world.

Its prevalence rate in Qatar is 17 percent in the adults, more than double the global rate of 8 percent, which calls for effective steps to combat this disease at the preventive and curative level.

Sidra Medical Center in collaboration with the Qatar Metabolic Institute at HMC is organizing a conference on contemporary understanding of diabetes, obesity and related diseases from 20 to 26 November. The conference focuses on the theme of innovation in diabetes care and includes a special program entitled Our Youth at Risk.
