Mohammed bin Rashid meets David Cameron

WAM DUBAI, 16th November, 2013 (WAM)–The Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, received this evening at Al Zabeel Palace the British Prime Minister, David Cameron, and the delegation accompanying him.

During the meeting, Sheikh Mohammed and Cameron discussed a number of regional issues of mutual interest and the historic relations between the U.A.E. and the U.K. at all levels.

The British Prime Minister praised the progress being experienced by the U.A.E., led by its wise leadership, citing the world class infrastructure and the tourist and heritage landmarks across the U.A.E. He also referred to the unique cultural diversity of the U.A.E.

They discussed Expo 2020. Cameron stressed that his country backs the U.A.E.’s bid to host Expo 2020, urging friendly countries to support the U.A.E. bid. He noted that Dubai is a cosmopolitan city, in which all languages are spoken, and that hence it is qualified in all tourist, logistic, social, geographic and service aspects to host Expo 2020.

Sheikh Mohammed and Cameron discussed international and regional conflicts and ways to find peaceful solutions far from violence and fighting so as to restore peace, stability and security in the region.

Welcoming the British Prime Minister, Sheikh Mohammed commended the positive positions of his government towards the issues in the region, and its efforts to ensure stability and security in the region. He cited Britain’s support for the U.A.E. in all issues of mutual interest.

The meeting was attended by H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, H.H. Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Technology and Media Free Zone Authority, H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Civil Aviation Authority and Chairman of Emirates Group, Reem Al Hashimi, Minister of State, Mohammed Ibrahim Al Shaibani, Director General of the Court of Ruler of Dubai, Khalifa Saeed Salman, Director General of the Department of Protocol and Hospitality in Dubai, British Ambassador to U.A.E. Dominic Jermey and the British Consul General in Dubai, Edward Hobart.
